is there really no update repo for armv6 (raspberry pi)? can't find
the armv6hl folder in there:

http://download.opensuse.org/ports/update/13.1/

which is the url of the shipped update repo in the rasbperry pi image.

Not for 13.1, no. You can use Factory and, once released, 13.2.
